Dive into the World of Art

Are you passionate about art and eager to refine your creative skills? This course is designed for those looking to deepen their understanding of art movements, expand their technical abilities, and develop their unique artistic voice.

Through a dynamic syllabus, you’ll explore a range of artistic experiences and techniques, including:

Drawing, Painting, and Mixed Media: Hone your foundational skills and experiment with new approaches.

Printmaking Techniques: Discover relief, intaglio, and screen printing, working hands-on with our specialist printmaking studio. Facilities include tools for screen printing, lino printing, dry point, and mono printing.

Your work will be enriched by maintaining sketchbooks, workbooks, and journals, where you’ll document research, ideas, and reflections on broader theoretical and contextual themes. Whether you’re building a portfolio or seeking personal growth, this course is your opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of art.

PLEASE NOTE – YOU MUST APPLY FOR 3 A LEVELS

Standard A Level entry requirements: 5 x GCSE grade 5’s or above (must include Maths and English Language). However, certain subjects may have additional entry criteria, which can be found below:

Additional Entry Requirements:
A Level Art will require grade 5 in GCSE Art or a portfolio.

What you will Learn

To enrich your learning, the course includes theoretical and contextual studies supported by a variety of external visits and guest speakers. You will participate in two immersive residential trips: a 3-day London visit in the first year and a 5-day European trip in the second year, offering unique exposure to art and culture beyond the classroom.

Assessment

There will be a combination of practical/written work and externally examined coursework.

What are the career opportunities?

Successful students are guaranteed a place on the Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at Trafford College. Alternatively, students can apply directly for degree level programmes in a related subject.

Career Options

A level Fine Art will allow progression into careers like illustration and graphic design, or other professions such as photography or fashion design.
