Course Overview

This course is ideal for learners who want to build a career in the Travel, Tourism, or Aviation Industry. You will develop and practice essential skills for employment or progress to a higher-level qualification.

To enrich your learning experience, you will take part in exciting day visits to destinations such as Chester Zoo, the Lake District, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Liverpool City Centre, and guided tours of Liverpool Airport, Manchester Airport, and the Manchester Airport Viewing Park.

Course Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above (including maths and English Language).

Applicants will also be required to complete an assessment, which must be successfully finished to a satisfactory standard prior to being offered a place in the course.

What you will Learn

You will study a wide range of topics that provide a strong foundation in travel and tourism. These include the UK Travel and Tourism Sector, exploring how the industry operates within the UK, and UK Travel and Tourism Destinations, focusing on popular locations and what makes them appealing to visitors. You will also learn about International Travel and Tourism Destinations, discovering global hotspots and cultural highlights, as well as Travel and Tourism Business Environments, examining the structures and economic factors that shape the industry. The course covers The Development of Travel and Tourism in the UK, tracing its growth over time, and Factors Affecting Worldwide Travel and Tourism, looking at global trends and challenges. Finally, you will gain insight into Airports and Airlines, understanding their vital role in connecting people and places.

Assessment

The course is assessed by assignments, projects, role plays and case study work.

Progression

Successful students can progress on to Level 3 studies in Travel and Tourism or Aviation Operations. Students aged 17 years and older may progress on to our Cabin Crew programme (subject to successful interview). Students can also progress into employment.
